Name: 3GP or .3gp
Description: 3GPP
Multimedia File – The 3rd Generation Partnership
Project is responsible for creating the 3GPP formats for
transmitting video and audio files over the internet and
between 3G cell phones. This format is often used by cell
phones that have video capture capabilities.
These formats provide
for delivery of multimedia over broadband mobile networks
(also known as 3rd generation networks) to the latest
compatible wireless devices. 3GPP and 3GPP2 are related to
MPEG-4 which evolved from Apple's QuickTime. The latest
versions of QuickTime include support for the key components

can be played on compatible wireless devices or on computers
running the appropriate software such as the latest version
of QuickTime or RealPlayer. To rule out a registry error on
your computer, run our free registry scan.
Manual Removal
Instructions: To manually remove a file extension 3GP file,
right-click the Start button and click on Explore. Go to the
Search bar and enter *.3gp after double-clicking your hard
drive. This instructs Windows to search the drive for any
file that has the 3GP file extension. Next, find the file in
the list of results and right-click it. Choose Delete and
confirm your choice by clicking Yes when prompted.
Solution/Recommendations: If you are having trouble with the
3GP files or applications, make sure you are running the
latest version of QuickTime or your favorite media player.
Updates and patches are often released that address known
issues with the application or upgrade it to handle new
formats such as 3GP. In addition, 3GP file corruption and
missing 3GP file associations can often be linked to
registry-related errors. Because of this, we highly
recommend a registry scan to rule out potential problems
with the registry itself.
If you have a 3GP
compatible media player installed on your PC but are still
having trouble opening file extension 3GP files, go back

Default Program. Windows will display a list of recommended
programs for opening your 3GP file. If QuickTime is listed,
click the appropriate icon. Check the check box that says,
“Always use the selected program to open this kind of file.”
