Problems:
Are you having a difficult time opening DSS files? It’s
possible that you don’t have the appropriate program for
opening file extension DSS files installed on your PC or
that you have a registry-related error. DSS files require an
appropriate software application such as IBM ViaVoice or
Olympus DSS Player in order to open properly. To rule out a
registry error, run our free registry scan.
Manual
Removal Instructions: To manually remove a DSS file,
right-click the Start button and click on Explore to open up
Windows Explorer. On the left, double-click the drive you’d
like to search for DSS file extensions such as the C: drive.
Next, go up to the Search bar and type in: *.DSS
This will
tell Windows to search the C: drive for any file ending with
the extension of .DSS. Windows will display a list of all
DSS files found on the C: drive (or whichever drive you
specified earlier). Navigate to the specific DSS file you’d
like to delete. Right-click on the DSS file and click on
Delete. When asked if you are sure you want to send the DSS
file to the Recycle Bin, click on Yes.
Solution/Recommendations: If you are having trouble with the
file extension DSS or applications, make sure you are
running the latest version of the DSS-compatible software.
Updates and patches are often released that address known
issues with the application. In addition, DSS file
corruption and missing DSS file associations can often be
linked to registry-related errors. Because of this, we
highly recommend a registry scan to rule out potential DSS
file extension problems with the registry itself.
If you
have ViaVoice or DSS Player installed on your PC but are
still having trouble opening DSS files, go back into Windows
Explorer and right-click on the DSS file you’d like to open.
Click on “Open With” and then select “Choose Default
Program.” Windows will display a list of recommended
programs. If the desired program is listed, click on the
appropriate icon. Mark the box that says, “Always use the
selected program to open this kind of file.”
