Problems:
Are you having a difficult time opening JNLP files? It’s
possible that you don’t have the appropriate program for
opening JNLP files installed on your PC or that you have a
registry-related error. JNLP files require either Java Web
Start or a supporting web browser such as Internet Explorer
installed on your system in order to open properly. To rule
out a registry error, run our free registry scan.
Manual
Removal Instructions: To manually remove a JNLP file,
right-click the Start button and click on Explore. This will
launch the Windows Explorer. Click your hard drive (look in
the list found on the left) and then go to the Search bar
and type in: *.JNLP
Windows
will search your hard drive for files with the JNLP file
extension and display a list of results. Find the desired
JNLP for deletion and right click it. A menu pops up, click
on the Delete link. Answer Yes when asked if you are sure
you want to send the JNLP file to the Recycle Bin.
Solution/Recommendations: If you are having trouble with the
File Extension JNLP or applications, make sure you are running the
latest version of the Java Web Start or supporting web
browser. Java Web Start is designed to update itself
seamlessly each time you launch the application so you
shouldn’t have to manually update the software. If you are
having trouble, go to Sun MicroSystems’ webpage and see if
there are any known bugs that haven’t been addressed with
the latest update. If you are using a web browser, make sure
it is the latest version and patched with the latest updates
and patches as well.
In
addition, JNLP file corruption and missing JNLP file
associations can often be linked to registry-related errors.
Because of this, we highly recommend a registry scan to rule
out potential problems with the registry itself.
If you
have Java Web Start installed on your PC but are still
having trouble opening JNLP files, go back into Windows
Explorer and right-click on the JNLP file you’d like to
open. Click on Open With and then Choose Default Program.
Windows will display a list of recommended programs. If Java
Web Start is listed click appropriate icon. Place a check
mark in the check box that says, “Always use the selected
program to open this kind of file.”
