Are you having difficulty with your file extension LOC
files? It’s possible that you don’t have the appropriate
program for opening LOC files installed on your PC or that
you have a registry-related error. LOC files require the
appropriate software application such as EasyGPS from
TopoGrafix in order to open properly. To rule out a registry
error, run our free registry scan.
Manual
Removal Instructions: To manually remove a LOC file,
right-click the Start button and click on Explore. Search
your drive for LOC files by entering *.LOC in the Search bar
in Windows Explorer. Windows will search your selected drive
for any file with the file extension of .LOC and then it
will show you a list of all LOC files found on the selected
drive.
Navigate
to the specific LOC file that you want to delete.
Right-click the LOC file and then click on Delete in the
next menu. When asked if you are sure you want to send the
LOC file to the Recycle Bin, click on Yes.
Solution/Recommendations: If you are having trouble with the
LOC files or applications, make sure you are running the
latest version of the EasyGPS software and that you have the
latest firmware updates for your GPS device. Updates and
patches are often released that address known issues with
the application or GPS device. In addition, file extension
LOC file corruption and missing LOC file associations can
often be linked to registry-related errors. Because of this,
we highly recommend a registry scan to rule out potential
problems with the registry itself.
If you
have EasyGPS installed on your PC but are still having
trouble opening LOC files, go back into Windows Explorer and
right-click on the LOC file you’d like to open. Click on
Open With and then click on Choose Default Program. Windows
will display a list of recommended programs. If EasyGPS is
listed, click the appropriate icon. If not, you may need to
browse in order to select it. Place a check mark in the
check box that says, “Always use the selected program to
open this kind of file.”
