Store. File extension M4P files use Apple’s "Fairplay" DRM
copy protection which restricts how many computers the music
file can be played on.

Problems: Are you
having a difficult time opening M4P files? It’s possible
that you don’t have the appropriate program for opening file
extension M4P files installed on your PC or that you have a
registry-related error. Even if you have the appropriate
software such as Apple iTunes of Apple QuickTime Player
installed, you must first authorize your computer with Apple
iTunes. You are allowed to authorize up to five computers
using your registered account. If you try to play an M4P
file on a 6th computer, you won’t be able to open
it.

Manual Removal
Instructions: To manually remove a M4P file, right-click the
Start button and click on Explore to open up Windows
Explorer. On the left, double-click the drive you’d like to
search for M4P file extensions. Next, go up to the Search
bar and type in: *.M4P
Windows will search
you drive for file extension M4P and display a list of its
results. Navigate to the specific M4P you’d like to delete.
Right-click on the M4P file and click on Delete. When asked
if you are sure you want to send the M4P file to the Recycle
Bin, click on Yes.
Solution/Recommendations: If you are having trouble with the
M4P files or applications, make sure that you have
authorized the computer under your account and that it is
within the five computer limit. Update the media iTunes or
QuickTime Player software to be sure you have all the latest
updates and patches that address known issues with the
application.
In addition, M4P file
corruption and missing file extension M4P file associations
can often be linked to registry-related errors. Because of
this, we highly recommend a registry scan to rule out
potential M4P file extension problems with the registry
itself.
If you have iTunes or
QuickTime Player installed on your PC but are still having
trouble opening authorized M4P files, go back into Windows
Explorer and right-click on the M4P file you’d like to open.
Click on Open With and then select Choose Default Program.
Windows will display a list of recommended programs. If
either one is listed, click on the related icon. To always
open M4P files with this program, be sure to mark the box
that says, “Always use the selected program to open this
kind of file.”
