Problems:
Are you having a difficult time opening MPG files? It’s
possible that you don’t have the appropriate program for
opening MPG files installed on your PC or that you have a
registry-related error. File extension MPG files require a
media player such as Apple QuickTime Player or Windows Media
Player in order to open properly. To rule out a registry
error, run our free registry scan.
Manual
Removal Instructions: Because MPG files can be quite large,
you may want to periodically delete downloaded video clips
to free up disc space. To manually remove an MPG file,
right-click the Start button and click on Explore. Windows
Explorer will open allowing you to select the drive you’d
like to search. Once you’ve clicked the drive, go to the
Search bar and type in: *.MPG
Windows
will search the drive and display a list of all files ending
with the MPG file extension. Navigate to the specific MPG
file that you would like to delete. Right-click on the MPG
file and click on Delete. When asked if you are sure you
want to send the MPG file to the Recycle Bin, click on Yes.
Solution/Recommendations: If you are having trouble with the
file extension MPG or applications, make sure you are
running the latest version of your favorite compatible media
player. Software developers regularly update and patch their
software including media players to address known problems
and conflicts. In addition, MPG file corruption and missing
MPG file associations can often be linked to
registry-related errors. Because of this, we highly
recommend a registry scan to rule out potential problems
with the registry itself.
If you
have a compatible media player such as Windows Media player
installed on your PC but are still having trouble opening
MPG files, it’s possible the file association is not set
properly. Go back into Windows Explorer and right-click on
the MPG file you’d like to open. Click on Open With and then
select Choose Default Program. Windows will display a list
of recommended programs. If a compatible program such as
Apple QuickTime or Windows Media Player is listed, click the
appropriate icon. To make sure your program of choice always
opens the MPG files, place a check mark in the check box
that says, “Always use the selected program to open this
kind of file.”
