extension THM as a thumbnail image of a larger image file.
These small icons are used to represent a larger image for
example in a clipart gallery. These THM images are created
using photo editing programs as well as by some digital
cameras.

Problems:
Are you having a difficult time opening THM files? It’s
possible that you don’t have the appropriate program for
opening THM files installed on your PC or that you have a
registry-related error. THM files require an image viewer
such as Microsoft Picture and Fax Viewer or ACD Systems
ACDSee in order to open properly. To rule out a registry

Removal Instructions: To manually remove a file extension
THM file, right-click the Start button and click on Explore
to open up Windows Explorer. On the left, double-click the
drive you’d like to search for THM file extensions. Next, go
up to the Search bar and type in: *.THM
This will
tell Windows to search for any file on the selected drive
ending with the extension of .THM. Windows will display a
list of all THM files found on the drive. Navigate to the
specific THM you’d like to delete. Right-click on the THM
file and click on Delete. When asked if you are sure you
want to send the THM file to the Recycle Bin, click on Yes.
Solution/Recommendations: If you are having trouble with the
THM files or applications, make sure you are running the
latest version of the image viewing software. Updates and
patches are often released that address known issues with
the application.
If you
click on a thumbnail on the internet and it fails to launch
the full screen image, the problem could be a missing
hyperlink on the page itself and not a problem isolated to
your computer.
In
addition, THM file corruption and missing THM file
associations can often be linked to registry-related errors.
Because of this, we highly recommend a registry scan to rule
out potential THM file extension problems with the registry
itself.
If you
have a compatible image viewer installed on your PC but are
still having trouble opening THM files, go back into Windows
Explorer and right-click on the THM file you’d like to open.
Click on Open With and then select Choose Default Program.
Windows will display a list of recommended programs. If a
compatible viewer is listed, click on the related icon. To
always open THM files with this program, be sure to mark the
box that says, “Always use the selected program to open this
kind of file.”
