Problems:
Are you having a difficult time opening file extension WPS
files? It’s possible that you don’t have the appropriate
program for opening WPS files installed on your PC or that
you have a registry-related error. WPS files require
Microsoft Works, Microsoft Word or a compatible program in
order to open properly. To rule out a registry error, run
our free registry scan.
Manual
Removal Instructions: To manually remove a WPS file,
right-click the Start button and click on Explore to open up
Windows Explorer. On the left, double-click the drive you’d
like to search for WPS file extensions. Next, go up to the
Search bar and type in: *.WPS
This will
tell Windows to search the selected disk drive for any file
ending with the file extension WPS. Windows will display a
list of all WPS files found on the drive. Navigate to the
specific WPS you’d like to delete. Right-click on the
desired WPS file and then click on Delete. When asked if you
are sure you want to send the WPS file to the Recycle Bin,
click on Yes.
Solution/Recommendations: If you are having trouble with the
file extension WPS or applications, make sure you are
running the latest version of Microsoft Works. Updates and
patches are often released by Microsoft that address known
issues with the application. In addition, WPS file
corruption and missing WPS file associations can often be
linked to registry-related errors. Because of this, we
highly recommend a registry scan to rule out potential WPS
file extension problems with the registry itself.
If you
have Microsoft Works installed on your PC but still can’t
open WPS files, go back into Windows Explorer and
right-click on the WPS file you’d like to open. Click on
Open With and then select “Choose Default Program.” Windows
will display a list of recommended programs such as
Microsoft Works or Microsoft Word. If one of these programs
is listed, click on the appropriate icon. Mark the box that
says, “Always use the selected program to open this kind of
file.”
Some
versions of Microsoft Word are able to open Microsoft Works
files while other versions require a converter which is
available from Microsoft’s webpage.
