Top 10 Exe Errors
Literally
thousands of .exe errors exist in large part to the sheer
number of executable programs out there. Executables, or
.exe files, are programs that perform certain operations on
your computer such as install a program (setup.exe or
install.exe), run programs (winword.exe, iexplore.exe), or
run routines (svchost.exe).
Errors can
occur when files become corrupt, damaged, or lost. They can
also be the result of memory issues, compatibility problems
with other programs or processes, and damage from computer
viruses and spyware.
Below
you’ll find a list of the top ten .exe errors out there.
1. Win32sys.exe
errors are common. If you receive an error such as “Cannot
find the file ‘win32.exe’ or one of its components” you are
not alone! This error occurs when there is reference to
win32sys.exe in your win.ini file yet it doesn’t exist on
your PC. You will also get this same .exe error if your
computer has been invaded by a computer virus with the same
name.
2. Svchost.exe
errors are related to the exes and services that Windows
loads each time it starts up. Svchost.exe is a process that
checks the registry and creates this list of items for
startup. These svchost.exe errors range from access
violations, memory issues, non-responsive programs, slow
performance, and interference with automatic Windows
updates.
3. Run32exe.exe
is another common .exe error that often shows up when
opening Control Panel in either Windows XP or Windows 2000.
If the run32exe.exe file goes corrupt, these errors will
appear. In addition, computer viruses love to invade with
names of system files including run32exe.exe.
4. Spool32.exe
errors are commonly related to printing. Printing stops for
a period and a spool.32.exe error is displayed. Eventually,
your print job completes but the list of installed printers
goes blank. This annoying error usually resolves itself upon
rebooting the computer. Another typical Spool32.exe error is
related to a missing or corrupt spool32.exe file which
prevents the Add Printer Wizard to find any installed ports
for your printer.
5. Spoolsv.exe
errors are typically related to printing operations. You
will find yourself with a spoolsv.exe error when the printer
driver for your installed printer becomes corrupt or goes
missing or when your systems resources are running low.
6. Iexplore.exe
is the executable responsible for launching Microsoft
Internet Explorer. This file is located under: Program
Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe. When all goes well,
you can browse the internet. When all goes wrong, you’ll get
an error and Internet Explorer will shut down.
7. Explore.exe
is the executable responsible for launching Windows
Explorer. Explore.exe errors are common after upgrading your
operating system as well as when you have incompatible
programs installed, namely Clean Sweep and ZoneAlarm.
8. Winlogon.exe
errors are dramatic errors that prevent users from logging
on to Windows. These winlogon.exe errors indicate a problem
with your Windows installation or occasionally a problem
with a recent update or restore.
9. Msimne.exe
errors are errors that occur when using Microsoft Outlook
Express. These errors can be the result of read-only .DBX
files or from a damaged Identities key in the Windows
registry.
10.
Many users migrate to Mozilla Firefox as an alternative to
using the error-prone Windows Internet Explorer however
firefox.exe errors can and do occur. Firefox.exe errors can
occur in conjunction with memory issues, having too many
tabs open, and setting various options too high.
In
addition to the thousands of known .exe errors out there,
many more exist as computer viruses or malware posing as
legitimate executables and causing their own set of
troubles.
